Conducts home visits to Needham's elders (Senior SAFTE Program) to assess if they are at risk for injury due to home safety issues, medication management or nutritional concerns
Conducts monthly Keep Well clinics, and Health and Wellness consultations at Needham Housing Community Rooms or by appointment in the office or in the home
Coordinated and implements Needham's HEARTSafe program focused on improving survival from sudden cardiac arrest.
Coordinates an annual free clinic to check for skin cancer
Federal fuel assistance, Salvation Army Assistance Programs and federal food stamps (for senior citizens and disabled only) are available to qualified Needham residents (must call for appointment)
Immunizations to prevent pneumonia, measles-mumps-rubella (one shot), chicken pox, Hepatitis B, polio and tetanus-diptheria are available by appointment (physician or public school nurse order is required)
Influenza (flu) vaccine clinics are held in the fall
Inspects and licenses the operation of recreational camps and tanning establishments
Investigates communicable diseases and food borne illnesses
Meningococcal immunization is offered in the spring and fall, by appointment, for students who are about to enter college
Provides community education programs
Provides valuable community time by serving on many town committees and are available to speak on health-related issues to various organizations
