Sue Blaney, the author of the Please Stop the Rollercoaster parent book group program and guide, shared her strategies to enhance communication with teens and techniques for effective parenting during presentations in Needham last year. Sue's parent presentation was shown on the Needham Channel. If you are interested in participating in an 8 to 10 session parent book group discussion series with other Needham parents this is your chance.
Guiding Good Choices
This is a nationally recognized model program of the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), designed for parents of children ages 10 to 14 years old. This prevention program guides parents to strengthen protective factors by learning the skills to enhance family communication and family bonding. This program teaches parents realistic substance use refusal skills to share with children, preparing them to respond confidently to the high risk behavior choices they often confront in adolescence.
If you are interested in signing up for either of the two parent groups, please contact Catherine Delano at 781-455-7940 ext. 215.
