The Town of Needham offers a range of health insurance options to benefit eligible employees. Through the West Suburban Health Group (WSHG), a municipal joint purchase group organized under Mass. General Laws Chapter 32B, §12.
Active benefit eligible employees may enroll in health insurance either upon their initial hire, during the annual open enrollment period each spring, or with a documented qualifying event.
The Town’s Health Plans come in two different "deductible" plan designs, known as the Benchmark Plans and the High Deductible Health Plans. To help pay for out-of-pocket medical expenses, employees should consider options such as the Health Savings Account (for High Deductible enrollees only) or the Flexible Spending Account (Benchmark only), or some of the other supplemental voluntary insurances available.
