National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES)

The storm drain system in Needham is regulated by the Environmental Protection Agency MS4 (Municipal Separate Storm Sewer System) permit program. The issuance of this permit means that residents, businesses, developers, and industrial facilities in Needham are responsible for reducing the discharge of pollutants from the municipality's storm sewer system to the maximum extent practicable.
