Scam Alert: Please be aware of the “you have a warrant” scam that is going around Needham. The Needham Police Department has received several phone calls from residents who have gotten calls from what appears to be the phone number for the Needham Police business line.
The scam is asking for residents to pay for overdue citations, claiming there is a warrant in your name or that you have failed to show up for jury duty and have a “gag order” if you speak to anyone. The caller threatens to show up and arrest you if you do not pay. The Needham Police Department will never call and ask you for payment for a warrant or request that you pay a citation online. Please Note: You do not need to report this call to the Needham Police Department. Please only call if you provided information or money was exchanged.
