The heat on the second floor of the Center at the Heights is currently working at only 50% capacity while the Town’s Building Maintenance Division of the DPW awaits delivery of a replacement compressor. Given the extreme cold temperatures this week the second floor of the building is very chilly. The first floor, however, is running at 100% heating capacity.
The Aging Services Division staff has moved some second floor programs down to first floor spaces, and
some staff members with offices on the second floor will be working in temporary spaces at the CATH or in other town buildings until the replacement part arrives and the heating system can be repaired. The Aging Services team will continue to make adjustments to ensure the health and comfort of participants, staff members, and volunteers, and this may include re-locating some services and canceling or postponing some programs. To stay informed of this situation, residents are encouraged to sign up for the Council on Aging's daily email updates, visit

The Town appreciates your patience and understanding as it works to resolve this situation as quickly as possible. In the meantime, the Aging Services Division has stocked up on coffee, tea, and hot cocoa and has relaxed the restriction on drinking hot beverages outside of the café.
