The Town of Needham has announced its 20th annual Elderly and Disabled Taxation Fund and Property Tax Assistance Fund Program to provide property tax relief to eligible residents. Seniors residing in Needham may be eligible to receive a grant to be applied to their property taxes if they meet the qualifications for low-income, elderly or disabled as defined by Massachusetts law. Qualifications vary, but they generally relate to age, ownership, residency, disability, income, and assets. The Elderly and Disabled Taxation Fund was established in 2005 and is funded by voluntary contributions from Needham taxpayers. In 2009 the Property Tax Assistance Fund was created by Town Meeting and is funded through an annual appropriation.
To qualify for the grants to be issued this year, completed applications must be received by the Assessor’s office on or before April 30, 2025. Application forms are available on the Town’s website and hard copies are available at the Assessor's Office and the Treasurer/Tax Collector’s office in Town Hall, at the Center at the Heights, and at the Needham Public Library. For questions, please contact the Assessor's office at 781-455-7500 ext. 508.
