Elections
2025 Elections FAQs
1. Can I vote in person after I request a vote by mail ballot?
Yes. Even if you requested a vote by mail ballot, you can vote in person absentee or you can vote in person on Election Day so long as you have not returned your vote by mail ballot. You may only vote once. If you return your ballot by mail before you vote in person, you will not be able to vote in person. Once the Town Clerk has received your in person absentee ballot, you have voted.
If you vote in person after you have received your vote by mail ballot, please dispose of the vote by mail ballot appropriately (the Town Clerk recommends tearing or shredding it).
2. I have not received my vote by mail or absentee ballot. How quickly are vote by mail and absentee ballots processed? When should I contact the Town Clerk's Office?
Vote by mail and absentee ballots are sent out within 48 hours of receipt of the request. This means that we deliver your ballot to the US Post Office within 48 hours of receipt of your request. Please allow sufficient time for us to receive your request and for the Post Office to deliver it. If you are concerned, please call the Town Clerk's Office at 781-455-7500 x 503 or email TownClerk@NeedhamMa.gov.
If you have not received a requested vote by mail ballot or an absentee ballot, you can still vote absentee in person until 12:00 noon the day prior to Election or you can vote at the polls on Election Day.
3. What if I voted absentee in person and I receive my vote by mail ballot after I voted in person?
Once the Town Clerk has accepted your in person absentee ballot, you have voted. Please dispose of the vote by mail ballot appropriately (the Town Clerk recommends tearing or shredding it).
