Dog Licenses

All dogs 6 months of age or older must be licensed annually under Massachusetts State law and Needham's Town Bylaws.   A current proof of rabies vaccination is required prior to licensing as well as proof of spaying or neutering, if applicable.   

2026 DOG LICENSES

Beginning November 15, 2025, we will be accepting dog license renewal applications for calendar year 2026 (license period: January 1, 2026 through December 31, 2026)

There are three options to renew your dog's license:        

1. ONLINE: If you already have registered your dog using our online dog registration portal, you may renew here.  If you are new to Needham or this is the first time that you are registering a dog, you may apply for your Needham dog registration online.
2. IN PERSON: you can license your dog in person at the Town Clerk’s Office, 1471 Highland Avenue, Needham, MA 02492, by cash, check or credit card.
3. BY MAIL:  you can license your dog by mail.  Please print the dog license application and include your check made payable to the Town of Needham, with current proof of rabies vaccination, spay/neuter certificate or Veterinarian notation on rabies certificate along with a self-addressed stamped envelope (if the dog has never been licensed before or is newly spayed or neutered), and mail to Town Clerk’s Office, 1471 Highland Avenue, Needham, MA 02492, OR drop it off in the red drop box in front of the Town Hall at the corner of Garrity's Way and Highland Avenue.
