Stormwater Capacity Upgrades

Concord and Burnside Drainage Project

Project Background Summary

The project originated to deal with excessive flooding conditions at the intersection of concord and Burnside during high intensity storms. This intersection received increased flow with the runoff from the hill up to Lexington Street. The project was designed and built to upgrade the storm drain from the intersection of Concord Street and Burnside Street to the outfall off Cheney Street at Greendale Avenue along Rt. 128. This project also acts as a relief drain to deal with the increased stormwater from the surrounding upland neighborhoods that shed stormwater towards Greendale Ave, along with the Greendale Avenue side streets that tie into the Greendale Ave drain line. Additional underground utility conflicts with water, sewer and gas also required the project to be phased out over a period of years, while the utilities that needed to be upgraded were moved to accommodate the larger drain.
